From the Principal
Our goal at Flynn is to serve the needs of every student through partnerships with the home, and to encourage every student to meet his/her potential while maintaining a positive self-esteem. Opportunities for increased achievement are developed through a rigorous staff development program, individual planning for students, high expectations for the community of staff, students and parents and academic standards that are challenging, high and achievable. The following questions are the foundation of our school and district and support a "learning system" that guides our practices.
Is what we teach aligned to the District Standards? Does how we teach accommodate individual learner needs? Do we use frequent formative checks to gauge individual student progress? Do we adjust instruction based on feedback from frequent checks? Do staff members have the needed knowledge and skills? Are parents actively engaged as learning partners? The staff and community at Flynn Elementary remains committed to maintaining and increasing student achievement. Every component of the school is developed around the question- "How will this impact student learning?" Parents are continually reinforced with the message that their participation is not only appreciated but also necessary for their child to succeed as a learner.
